at Aid & Abet Bibliotheque, Cambridge

9 August – 15 September 2012

Opening 7-9pm Thursday 9 August

Transition are setting up a summer shop at the Aid & Abet Bibliotheque in Cambridge, presenting a selection of publications, limited editions, original works and an array of vintage books and magazines.

The artworks on show (and for sale) are themed around Escape and include prints by Ryan Mosley and Tamsyn Challenger and small original works by Michael Bartlett, Annabel Dover, Paul Kindersley, Cathy Lomax, Alex Michon, Alli Sharma, Corinna Spencer, Emma Talbot, Mimei Thompson and Katherine Tulloh.

‘The Transition artists are bored in the city, with ‘having to strain to still discover mysteries on the sidewalk billboards.’* Deciding to follow Rimbaud and ‘believe in all enchantments’ they etch and sketch, dream and scheme. Tumbling into the future they escape into the real unreality of kino-culture, purile pornographic pleasures, hidey-holes, haunted houses and hallucinations. Holidaying in these, their desiring spaces, for them real life is elsewhere.’
Alex Michon 2012.
