Paul Greenleaf
Greenleaf's Correspondence series combines 'found' photography with new photographic work.
'A discovery of old postcards at Greenwich market inspired me to retrace the depicted locations. I photograph the view as close as possible to the original and use the written message from the postcards as titles of the scenes. The work aims to highlight how the land has changed physically, by neglect, development or sometimes coastal erosion, and the way the landscape has changed culturally. The photographs on the cards show the world that these people lived in, the words on the cards are the voices of the people. By using the text from the cards, I am inviting the viewer into the lives of the people referred to in the messages.'
