The Caravan Gallery
The Caravan Gallery is a mobile exhibition venue and visual arts project run by artists Jan Williams and Chris Teasdale, who since 2000 have been on a mission to record the ordinary and extraordinary details of life in 21st century Britain. They are particularly drawn to absurd anomalies and curious juxtapositions, typical of places in transition and in the process of reinventing themselves. Their little mustard caravan will be parked outside 202 The Parade for the duration of O Dreamland and will be featuring seaside specials from around the UK.
The Caravan Gallery recently appeared at 'Late at the Tate' at Tate Britain, in connection with the 'How We Are: Photographing Britain' exhibition. They are currently on 'IS BRITAIN GREAT? THE CARAVAN GALLERY UK TOUR', and have just returned from the Paul Smith Space, Tokyo, Japan. The Caravan Gallery won the SEEDA Arts & Business Community Award and AMA Creative Champion of the Year Award 2006 for 'Postcards from Portsmouth' in partnership with Aspex Gallery and Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth.
