Simeon
Nelsons work is held in the collections of several Australian
museums, and in the UK at the Jerwood Foundation and the Cass Sculpture
Foundation at Goodwood. He is currently working on a major public
commission in Ashford, Kent. His laser-cut plywood sculptures and
installations question relationships between architectural ornament
and organic growth. Art historical styles and evolving scientific
models of the world inform the work. He is particularly interested
in the Baroque as a metaphor for a theory of complexity, spatiality
and spectacle. |
