ROMAN REMAINS

Daniele Genadry

Daniele Genadry’s paintings and drawings embody the construction of visual experience through memory, movement and migration. In Rome she started to make a series of drawings based on images of Via Appia. This process continued when she returned to her current home in New York, mixing together newer landscapes, with the images from Rome. This translation of collected photos into drawing allowed her to play around with the idea of a record or description, where the way by which it is transcribed is more informative than the subject/content itself.
